 Biography
Jacqueline A. Burnes, Ed.D.
Founder & Director of Cardiovascular Wellness & Education, Director, Preventive Cardiology / Cardiac Rehabilitation Education

Dr. Jacqueline A. Burnes holds a doctorate degree in cardiovascular health (Ed.D.) with extensive clinical and research training in the discipline of cardiology. Dr. Burnes is the Founder of Burnes Health and serves as the Director of Preventive Cardiology /Cardiac Rehabilitation Education & Services. She is currently completing her postdoctoral training in cardiology at Columbia University in the Department of Biobehavioral Sciences at the Exert Clinic & Laboratory. Her lab administers CPET, a highly versatile test able to evaluate the complex interplay between the cardiovascular, pulmonary, and metabolic systems while a patient exercises. This detailed assessment provides valuable insights into a patient's physiological response to physical exertion. By measuring parameters such as oxygen consumption, carbon dioxide production, and heart rate, CPET offers a comprehensive evaluation of cardiorespiratory and metabolic function.
As the founder of Burnes Health and a member of the clinical team at Columbia University-TC Exert Clinic & Laboratory, Dr. Burnes dedicates her expertise to improving the lives of cardiovascular disease (CVD) patients. Her work focuses on diagnostic cardiology using non-invasive methods and implementing non-pharmacological treatment strategies. Her current training addresses various conditions, including heart attack, heart failure, coronary artery bypass grafting, heart valve repair or replacement, heart or lung transplants, angioplasty with or without stenting, peripheral artery disease, pulmonary hypertension, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Her clinical interests are centered on the primary and secondary prevention of cardiovascular disease, cardiac rehabilitation, and enriching the field of preventive cardiology, ultimately aiming to foster healthier communities through education and innovative care strategies.

Cardiometabolic Preventive Health Program
We believe it is important for everyone to know their heart numbers. Our health professionals closely monitor specific biomarkers considered risk factors for CAD throughout the program: LDL, HDL, TC, TG, A1C, CRP (Labcorp). Once we receive the results from the outside laboratory, these data are provided to the client's physician to assist in determining appropriate current and future therapeutics and interventions.
